What Eagles Member Sings Try and Love Again

Tucked away about the end of Hotel California, which turns 45 this week, is the last song Randy wrote during his tenure with the Eagles, "Try And Dearest Again." Today, the song is considered a deep track, merely in 1976, it was a striking with gimmicky critics, who felt information technology was the highlight of the album. What sets it apart from Randy's signature vocal, "Have Information technology To The Limit," in my opinion, is that it is all Randy. There are no Don Henley/Glenn Frey co-credits here. The lyrics are sweet, pure, and hopeful. Randy may non take had Henley's English language literature groundwork, but he was able to convey simply as much in a simple phrase, such every bit "Right or wrong, what's washed is done, It's only moments that you infringe." The song deserved to exist a hit, but mayhap it's best that it remained in obscurity and was never overplayed on the radio, similar the title rails. This way, information technology can go on being our little surreptitious. Something we can pull out when people say, "Who's Randy Meisner?" Well, hither he is.

Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Randy Meisner, Glenn Frey, Don Felder

What the critics said:

"Bassist Randy Meisner sings the album's finest cut, 'Endeavour And Dearest Again.' Walsh over again stands out musically hither (on Gretsch guitar), and Meisner coos in an first-class vocal performance."

Meisner's 'Try And Love Again' is ane of the album'southward strong points–a wonderfully constructed ballad."

"In 'Endeavor And Dear Once more,' with its eerie 'These Days' opening hook, the spotlight is on Randy Meisner and it is definitely 1 of the album'due south highlights."

"'Try And Beloved Again' is bassist Randy Meisner's only written contribution to Hotel California, and fifty-fifty though information technology's a far cry from his 'Have Information technology To The Limit,' information technology's one of the few typical things on the new LP. Containing elements of folk, state and stone music, information technology's another semi-bitter love song served upwards in a disarming manner. Meisner's vocals, as always, are perfectly tailored to the lyrical message."
–Daily Record Lord's day (Morristown, NJ), January second, 1977

"'Try and Beloved Again' is the anthology's about hopeful, upbeat song with Randy Meisner vowing to forget a lost love for a new ane."
–Atlanta Constitution, January 8th, 1977

"Randy Meisner's 'Try And Beloved Again' is a nicely designed ballad with an outwardly romantic theme."
–Los Angeles Times, Dec 12th, 1976

"Bassist Randy Meisner adds one of the most highly-seasoned tunes, the Buffalo Springfield-ish 'Endeavor And Dear Again.'"
–Wichita Falls Record-News, April 16th, 1977

"'Endeavor And Love Once more' is ambitiously conceived and executed with polish, Glenn Frey's guitar cruising in counterpoint confronting a euphonious vocal arrangement."
–San Diego Union, January 9th, 1977

Some critics felt that "Endeavour And Love Again" was the merely vocal that represented the Eagles signature sound:

"Traditionally, the Eagles accept come to exist known for fluid, upbeat land with a pinch of rock and a dash roll now then. For the dyed-in-the-wool fan, there is enough of that on the anthology, too. "Try And Love Again," and the title cutting, 'Hotel California' are very good examples of what has helped the Eagles plumage their nest."
–The Times (Shreveport, LA), January 9th, 1977

"There are remnants (as in 'Try And Love Again') of the strong lead vocals backed past a sweet chorus."
–Green Bay Printing Gazette, January 2nd, 1977

LYRICS:
When you're out there on your ain
Where your memories can find y'all
Like a circle goes around

Day by day, they slowly fade away

Ooh, the expect was in her eyes
You never know what might be establish there
She was dancing right in time
And the moves she made so fine
Like the music that surrounds her

Should I stay or go?
I really wanna know
Would I lose or win?

Oh, oh, oh, oh, I'thousand gonna try and dearest over again
Oh, oh, oh, oh, gonna try and love
